General Chair: Didier Banner (EDF)

Didier Banner has a 30-year experience in R&D and Nuclear/Thermal Engineering. He is in charge of the strategic management of Advanced Modeling and Simulation at EDF R&D in the area of thermal-hydraulics, structural mechanics, electromagnetics and materials. He manages the EDF suite of codes such as code_saturne, neptune_cfd, code_aster. His previous positions were in thermal engineering in France and in the Czech Republic. He is responsible for the partnership program with CEA/IRSN/Framatome for joint programs in the area of thermal-hydraulics, fast transient dynamics and uncertainty quantification. He is member of the Nuclear  FORATOM R&D Working Group in Brussels. He is a member of the Industry Council of the CASL Initative (DOE) on Modeling-USA since 2014. His initial technical background is in nuclear thermal-hydraulics in the area of critical heat flux, severe accidents, primary/secondary SG leaks and fluid-structure interaction. He holds a Ph.D in Heat transfer. He is a graduate engineer from Ecole Centrale de Paris.

General co-chair: François Barré (IRSN)

Currently Deputy Director of Safety Research at the 'Institut de Radioprotection et de Sûreté Nucléaire' (IRSN) since 2011, after getting a Ph.D in Neutronics, François Barré spent all his carrier in the domain of Nuclear Reactor. He participated to different research activities in the field of experimental Thermalhydraulics within CEA during 12 years and JAEA (Japan) during two years. He was responible for the development of th e CATHARE code sponsored by EDF, Framatome, CEA and IRSN and largely used in several countries for safety analysis. Within IRSN, he was the Head of a Research Department involved in Severe Accident, Nuclear Fuels and Thermalhydraulics. As Deputy Director of Safety Research, his responisbilities are to participate to the definition of R&D programs in the fields of Nuclear Energy. He is also strongly involved in international collaborations (NUGENIA, OECD/CSNI).
